TREKKING – DEI FORTINI PATH
The Sentiero dei Fortini stretches for 5 km along the west coast of the island. A path that runs along the sea from the Blue Grotto to the Lighthouse of Punta Carena between rock frames, sculptural promontories and deep bays like fjords with turquoise waters. On the way there are the three forts that once served the defense of Capri: Orrico, Pino and Mesola.
The Fortini are ancient military posts built by the British in 1806 and expanded by the French after the capture of Capri, which took place in Orrico on October 4, 1808.
It is a fascinating and challenging trekking route that ends right near the entrance to the Blue Grotto.
Before starting, a quick break by Adriana, our wonderful local guide who will open the doors of his rock house overlooking the sea. We fill up with energy with a good coffee and a slice of cake and then, backpacking, we head towards the path, followed by the faithful Ginger, the dog who will be our body guard. Do not miss a dive at the fjord below the fort of Mesola. Unforgettable experience.
